Are You an Introvert or an Extrovert?

If you are an extrovert, you should be very careful about what you say especially if you are interviewing for a leadership position. Being an extrovert does not mean that whatever you say is “golden” and certainly does not mean you are entitled to say whatever you want.
In my years of recruiting, I would often hear from my clients say to me my candidate who had interviewed said the dreaded words “I can do whatever the job requires, and you will never find anyone better than me.”
While I do coach my candidates to practice humility in an interview, some choose not to, which is unfortunate, but probably the client is lucky the person showed their true personality.
While my clients will say to me “he/she is not a cultural fit”, what this really means is the person did not have the personality traits they need in a leader. You see, it is not about hiring types of people, but rather hiring people that have the types of personality and communication skills needed to be successful in the role/company.
An article I recently read by SmartBrief stated the following questions you should be asking yourself to see if you have a leadership personality:
How are you using your personality to become more response-able instead of more entitled?
How are you using your personality to bring out the best in others?
What skills do you need to learn in order to effectively communicate with other personality types?
How can you align the purpose and goals of your organization with what motivates your employees?
