Whether you are interviewing for a job that requires outstanding in-person communication or remote communication, it is critical your delivery is genuine and approachable. Obviously, the best way to convey emotion is by having a face to face conversation. Second best is a video conference and third is a phone call. Texting and email are not the best way to communicate on a serious topic.
I share this as my clients over the years stressed to me how critical it is to have a supervisor, manager or higher level leader with genuine, effective communication skills. It is important for leaders or co-workers to congratulate one another. It is important to let your clients know how grateful you are they trust you as an educated source on the services or products you provide.
How you choose to communicate with others when you are having a bad day or feeling angry matters. Perhaps it is best to have an audio call, but making sure your emotions are in check and perhaps list out bullet points you want to cover on a difficult call to make sure you stay emotionally authentic.
